What information do we collect and how do we use it?
Free trial registration
When you sign up for a free trial of Reading Eggs, Reading Eggspress and Mathseeds we collect your first and last name, email address, phone number, your country and postcode. Once you log in to your free trial account, we also collect your child’s first and last name and their date of birth. Collection of these details is necessary for us to tailor our communications to you, manage your child’s progress through the programs, and ensure we can better respond to your customer service requests. You are entitled to provide us with a pseudonym if you wish to sign up anonymously. If you choose to sign up anonymously you will still have full access to the trial and all its features.
Subscription and product purchases
When you subscribe to Reading Eggs, Reading Eggspress or Mathseeds or purchase any of our products, we collect your first and last name and your credit card details. If you are purchasing one of our products, we also collect your address for delivery. When you subscribe or purchase a product we do not allow the option for you to use a pseudonym as we require this information for payment and or delivery.
Our surveys are designed to collect your feedback so that we can improve our programs and the way we market to you. When you complete one of our surveys we may collect your first and last name, your email address, your home address if the survey entitles you to a free gift, your child’s age, your income, as well as your opinion or other personal information relating to our survey questions. You are not obliged to complete any of our surveys, either as part of our free trial or subscription programs or otherwise. You are entitled to provide us with a pseudonym if you wish to complete our surveys anonymously, although if completion of our survey entitles you to a free gift, we will require your correct name and address details to deliver it to you.
We periodically run competitions on our Reading Eggs, Reading Eggspress and Mathseeds Facebook pages. To enter these competitions, you may be required to provide your correct name, email address and/or delivery address if these are required for you to receive the competition prize.
We may contract third-party service providers to assist us in better understanding our site visitors. These service providers are not permitted to use the information collected on our behalf except to help us conduct and improve our business.
You can choose to have your web browser (like Google Chrome or Internet Explorer) warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. Each browser is a little different, so look at your browser Help menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies. If you turn cookies off, you won’t have access to many features that make your site experience more efficient and some of our services will not function properly. However, you can still place orders over the telephone by contacting our Customer Service team.
Interaction With Children Online
We do not knowingly collect information from minors in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) of 1998. Blake eLearning is committed to the protection of children’s online privacy.
Verifiable consent from a child’s parent or guardian is required before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information from a child under age 13. If Blake eLearning website intends to collect information about children under 13 years old, COPPA-required information and instructions will be provided by the specific web page that collects information about the child. The web page will specify exactly what the information will be used for, who will see it, and how long it will be kept.
If we learn that a minor has submitted information about himself/herself to us, it will be deleted as soon as possible. If you believe that we have collected Personal Information from a minor, please contact our Customer Service team.
Based on the personally identifiable information you provide to us, Blake eLearning will communicate with you in response to any inquiries, to provide the products and services you request, and to manage your account. We will communicate with you by email, Live Chat and telephone.
All Blake eLearning email communications are in accordance with the requirements of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the ten principles set forth in the Canadian National Standard for the Protection of Personal Information. When you sign up for a free trial, you will automatically receive promotional and student report emails from Reading Eggs, Reading Eggspress and Mathseeds. To opt-out of these email communications, you can click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email, or you can simply log in to your account and click on the ‘My Account’ option, where you can choose to opt-in or out of emails.
Please note that due to email production schedules, upon cancellation you may receive any emails already in production.
How do we protect personal information?
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Your personal information is stored on secure networks and is only accessible by a limited number of people who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. When you place orders or access your personal information, we offer the use of a secure server. All sensitive/credit information you supply is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our databases to be only accessed as stated above.
Disclosure of information to Third Parties
Blake eLearning does not rent, sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third party sources. The term ‘third party sources’ does not include Blake eLearning’s related companies.
It also does not include website hosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.
Some of the organisations to which the Company will disclose personal information are located outside of Canada. By accessing the website or opening an email on which this Policy is located or linked, the individual is directed to read it and as a result, giving consent to the collection, handling, use and disclosure of personal information by the Company in accordance with this Policy. Access to and correction of personal information
Blake eLearning will take reasonable steps to ensure that all your personal information it holds is accurate, up-to-date and relevant. You can request access to or corrections of your personal information held by Blake eLearning by contacting our Customer Service team.
In addition to the above, you can also delete or change your personal information online. To do so simply log in to your Reading Eggs account and click on the ‘My Account’ tab, where you can remove or change your address, or change your name, email and or phone number. If you wish to delete all your information, please contact our Customer Service team.
The collection of personal information shall be limited to that which is necessary for the purposes identified by the organization. Information shall be collected by fair and lawful means.
Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention
Personal information shall not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law. Personal information shall be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfilment of those purposes.
If Information or consent is not provided
Without all of the required personal information being provided or consent being given, the Company will not be able to provide the product or service an individual is seeking, and may not be able to handle enquiries or claims in connection with those products or services.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will return or destroy your personal information within five days of receipt of your withdrawal of consent.
