I really like the way the sounds are modelled. Some programs really have distorted and unatural ways of presenting these e.g. ler, ner. I like the range of activities to reinforce the sound or word being introduced. Kids really enjoy the catchy songs and love the different characters and voices. I am the STLA at my school and teach quite a number of children from Year 1 to Year 6 who all are experiencing difficulties with reading. I decided to trial the program with all my students. Every student is very excited about the progam. Reading eggs has motivated all my students, with each one of them requesting to use it whenever possible, discussing with other students where they are up to, how many critters they own and how many activities they have completed. They have even told their classmates about the program who all now want to have a turn. Even my Year 6 and year 4 boys, who have shown very little interest in reading due to the difficulties they have, are loving reading eggs. It is an invaluable program which I am hoping to be able to purchase as i can see the benefits already even in a few short weeks. Easy for students to use, home – school link is great, colourful and interesting, activities are varied, follow-up worksheets and teachers notes have also been useful for programming and consolidating activities. Easy to listen to. Understanding of the instructions is clear. The pictures are fantastic. It is bright happy and motivating. I have had students who are shy and reluctant learners appear quite happy and even smiling. Donna
Content very kid friendly. Great voices. Moves at good pace for age. Age appropriate activities. Great songs & voices. Simple keyboard skills required. Little assistance needed once shown. Most students are very motivated and enjoy using the program.
As well as being able to use it for the weak kids, the higher end kids like to use the program as well. I have found that because the students enjoy it, it can be used as a behavioural reward too. In fact, some of the money needed to buy a subscription is going to be coming out of the Behaviour management cost centre as we are a school with not a lot of available funds accessible to us. As I teach students with Intellectual disability and Learning Difficulties it is difficult to find software that is motivating for all 8 students. It has been fantastic to be able to have all 8 students working individually on Reading Eggs at the same time requiring minimal assistance. Laurie
Using it on the Interactive White Board is a fantastic success. It becomes a part of whole class lessons or can be used as a group activity if you can keep the other groups away!!!

I am a Director of a Child Care Centre and also the mother of a 4 year old. I have recommended this program to all the parents at my centre and my friends. I have a 4 year old who is very competent on the computer and also loves reading. Reading eggs has brought those two things together. It is so very age appropriate and I have not seen any software that even comes close to being as good (and I have seen many!). Well done it is great!
Dear Reading Eggs Team, Ever since my 4yo son has started “playing” (as he thinks of it) on Reading Eggs, I can’t believe how he has developed with his literacy skills. He is constantly spelling out words, reading simple things, writing lists of words and always asking “what spells this mum?”. I am totally in awe watching a child learn to read and write and I truly believe that Reading Eggs has been a huge encouragement and instrument in his development. I think the website is one of the best I’ve seen…I want to play on it! A student in my son’s class let the teacher know about Reading Eggs. Now the whole class is logged on, and I have logged on his 4yo twin brothers at home, so they feel like they are involved in “school”. Aside from the skills they are learning, it is something they can do completely on their own, though they learn also by observing and helping each other. The programme is clear, you can repeat lessons, there is no time limit, and there are no penalties. All good as far as we are concerned. The boys love it and we have already spread the word. My son is in first grade and his teacher and I have been worried that he has been slipping behind his classmates. He flips or twists letters and words as well as numbers. He was developing an “I can’t” attitude to anything written. He didn’t want to try. The first time I put on reading eggs he played it for three or four hours, only taking a break when told to and asking to be able to get back and continue. Each critter is a triumph. I originally started my 4 year old daughter on Reading Eggs. While she has enjoyed it, I have also put on an eight year old student that I have in my class who struggles with reading and writing. He is absolutely glued to it. I would like to know how schools can put groups of students on who need extra help. I can see a huge benefit for weaker students, getting them help early in a way that they are motivated to learn. Thank you for a fantastic program. Janis
I have been using the Reading Eggs program with my 5 year old son for a month now and it’s FANTASTIC. I have just purchased the books, activity books and flashcards for my students that I work with as a Special Needs teacher in a primary school, who are struggling readers. They LOVE it too (boys!!!).
